About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Act as the primary technical authority for construction and ensure site project construction activities are delivered to approved designs
Liaise with the Area Project Manager to ensure activities comply with the contractual model
Issue construction activities when acting as Principal Contractor
Ensure the competence of construction resources and subcontractors
Develop and apply processes for quality and configuration management of construction deliverables
Provide progress data for project reporting and Construction Management Assurance
Ensure construction, quality, testing, and commissioning programme targets are met
Coordinate construction teams, clients, contracts managers, subcontractors, other trades, facility managers, safety-case teams, and design authorities
Plan laydown areas, parking, accommodation, materials, plant, tools, working enclaves, and access and egress routes
Manage and execute construction teams using established procedures and monitor CEMAR input/output
Develop and maintain construction logic and report progress
Create and approve pre-construction information, construction-phase health and safety plans, safe systems of work, and waste/environmental assessment plans
Supervise and manage all site construction teams
Manage, schedule, supervise, organise, and coordinate trade contractors through Construction Managers
Act as the responsible person under CDM regulations with overall site-management responsibility
Coordinate design reviews, site inspections, logistics meetings, earned-value checks, progress meetings, investigations, and client reporting
Evaluate bids, project costs, equipment, and designs while integrating safety measures
Prepare vendor and subcontracting documents
Lead and support construction teams to deliver processes on time
Prepare detailed project reports for the Head of Construction and update project schedules

Requirements

What you’ll need

Thorough working knowledge of NEC contracts, acting as both the primary named person and the NEC Supervisor
Thorough knowledge and understanding of Construction Design Management (CDM) regulations
Competence in construction resource management, including subcontractors
Ability to manage construction activities, quality, testing, commissioning, safety, schedules, budgets, and project reporting
Ability to work with clients, consultants, subcontractors, trade contractors, design authorities, and Integrated Project Teams
Security clearance required
Driving required
