About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Identify design scope and deliverables
- Support development and agreement of design scopes, programmes and budgets
- Manage allocated design partners and project teams against agreed deliverables, programmes and budgets
- Manage the design contract and coordinate reporting against Framework requirements
- Ensure design compliance with NWL, industry and Costain standards, securing necessary derogations
- Challenge design solutions for safety, efficiency and buildability, including DfMA and low-carbon solutions
- Coordinate and manage design risk, buildability, carbon and DfMA workshops
- Coordinate and manage design reviews, technical assurance reviews and CDM reviews
- Ensure design implementation aligns with the project BIM strategy
- Support the framework-nominated principal design partner and interfaces with wider project and Enterprise teams
- Apply current legislation, particularly relevant health and safety requirements
- Promote the business professionally to external and internal stakeholders
- Maintain working relationships with design, delivery, commercial and employer teams
- Support procurement decision-making for work packages with Framework team members and supply-chain partners
- Adhere to Costain governance for design management and project delivery
Requirements
What you’ll need- Civil engineering qualification and practical delivery experience
- Good organisational skills
- Effective communication and strong stakeholder management skills
- Passion for improving performance through best practice, process improvements and continuous improvement practices
- Ability to work and learn quickly in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
- Previous experience managing complex/sensitive programmes
- Practical experience working with NEC4 contracts
- Positive and proactive attitude
- SMSTS
- CSCS
- Full UK driving licence
- Experience working within the water sector in Mechanical, Electrical ICA or Civils disciplines in maintenance, design or capital delivery roles
- Thorough understanding of design delivery, design procurement, design management, design control and quality assurance
- Knowledge of BIM to ISO 19650
- Working knowledge of the NEC4 suite of contracts
