About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Produce and check geotechnical calculations and specifications for shallow and deep foundations, retaining walls, and earthworks
  • Review and guide the production of BIM/CAD models and drawings
  • Process AGS files, manage geotechnical data, and produce digital 2D/3D ground models
  • Derive soil and rock design parameters for engineering use
  • Contribute to automation of repetitive tasks and calculations
  • Produce Eurocode 7-compliant reports, including desktop studies, Ground Investigation Reports, and Geotechnical Design Reports
  • Plan and scope ground investigations and interpret laboratory and in-situ test results
  • Collaborate with civil, structural, mechanical, and electrical engineers and project managers
  • Participate in design reviews and interdisciplinary design check sessions and deliver technical presentations
  • Manage workload and assigned work packages to agreed cost, time, and quality standards
  • Manage change and resource allocations
  • Respond to site Technical Queries for permanent and temporary works designs
  • Guide construction teams by reviewing previous designs and proposing alternative ground and civil engineering solutions

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Degree qualified in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Geology or Engineering Geology, or equivalent experience
  • Chartered status (e.g. CEng or CGeol), or near chartered with equivalent industry experience
  • UK experience as a Geotechnical Engineer or Engineering Geologist within civil engineering
  • Digital proficiency in design calculations using industry-recognised packages such as GEO5, WALLAP, Plaxis 2D/3D, or Oasys packages
  • Experience scoping and analysing field and laboratory data to develop ground models and project-specific geotechnical solutions
  • Strong working knowledge of UK regulatory frameworks, e.g. CDM Regulations
  • Awareness of geotechnical data management and workflow automation
  • Unrestricted right to work in the UK; sponsorship is not available
  • Additional technically focused qualifications/training (desirable)
  • Multi-sector project experience in Rail, Water, Energy and Highways (desirable)
  • Rock mechanics experience (desirable)
  • Ability to use computational design tools and programming languages such as Grasshopper or Python (desirable)
  • Environmental and sustainability considerations in project work (desirable)
