About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Select, lead, direct, and develop project managers and project/area delivery teams within the project portfolio
- Support pre-construction planning for new scopes of work
- Establish relationships with Costain and client teams
- Promote efficiency and continuous improvement within the team and framework service
- Provide whole-life oversight and accountability for projects and services through design, procurement, assembly, commissioning, and handover
- Champion wellbeing, safety, environmental performance, compliance, and continuous improvement
- Create a safety culture targeting Zero LTI and RIDDOR incidents
- Foster collaborative relationships across the team and IPT with Severn Trent Water
- Work with commercial and supply chain teams from tender through delivery to achieve commercial performance requirements
- Use performance and operational data and digital tools to drive operational decisions and performance
- Deliver planned work across the Severn Trent Water region and manage either one major project or a portfolio of smaller projects
Requirements
What you’ll need- Degree level/HNC/HND qualification in a Mechanical & Electrical or Civil Engineering discipline and vocational training in Engineering
- Relevant CSCS Card
- SMSTS Qualification
- Significant practical experience successfully managing and delivering a framework of multiple complex or critical projects on major UK infrastructure schemes, including the water sector
- Strong track record of delivering project programmes
- Knowledge and understanding of construction contract law and forms of contract through experience and formal training
- Computer competence in MS Word, Excel, document control systems, and Primavera software
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Driving required
- NEC PM Accreditation (desirable)
- Association of Project Manager APMP (desirable)
