About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Support Cotiviti’s revenue accounting function through U.S. GAAP and ASC 606 application
- Review customer contracts, amendments, renewals, and non-standard arrangements to determine revenue recognition treatment
- Analyze and document complex accounting conclusions involving revenue recognition, contract modifications, variable consideration, and performance obligations
- Prepare and record monthly revenue-related journal entries
- Perform account reconciliations, investigate variances, and resolve reconciling items
- Validate revenue data in ERP and financial reporting systems
- Support monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes
- Prepare revenue accounting schedules, supporting documentation, technical accounting memoranda, financial statement items, and footnotes
- Partner with Sales, Legal, Billing, Customer Operations, Finance, FP&A, and operational stakeholders
- Develop, implement, and enhance revenue accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls
- Execute and maintain SOX 404 controls and documentation
- Support internal and external financial statement audits
- Assist with acquisition integrations, including revenue process assessments, contract evaluations, ERP alignment, and policy implementation
- Identify process improvement and automation opportunities
- Monitor emerging accounting guidance and assess impacts on revenue recognition practices
- Support management reporting and ad hoc analyses related to revenue trends, forecasts, and operational initiatives
- Complete special projects and other assigned duties
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree with an emphasis in Accounting
- Certified Public Accountant (or on current path to achieve certification) is a plus
- Minimum of 3 years of progressive accounting experience with a concentration in technical revenue accounting in the software industry
- Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and ASC 606 revenue recognition guidance
- Experience reviewing and interpreting complex customer contracts and commercial arrangements
- Experience in a public company environment and familiarity with SOX 404 compliance requirements preferred
- Knowledge of ERP systems such as Oracle NetSuite, Oracle, SAP, or similar financial platforms
- Experience supporting financial statement audits and responding to auditor inquiries
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to exercise sound professional judgment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to document technical accounting conclusions
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight month-end and quarter-end deadlines
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- Experience supporting mergers, acquisitions, or business integrations preferred
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
- Must be able to provide a dedicated, secure work area
- Must be able to provide high-speed internet access/connectivity and office setup and maintenance
- May be required to travel at least 5% of time based on business needs
