About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Serve as a first responder and member of a dedicated catastrophe claims team
  • Investigate and settle personal and commercial lines property claims in the field
  • Respond to deployment directives and travel to catastrophe areas and areas with claims assistance needs
  • Evaluate, negotiate, and settle property claims in various geographic locations
  • Investigate and complete physical inspections of property claims
  • Evaluate damages and prepare written estimates according to policy provisions
  • Initiate first contact with insureds and relevant parties
  • Gather basic information and obtain recorded statements
  • Explain the overall claims process
  • Assist claims office workloads when deployed or assigned to a claims office

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Typically requires 7+ years of relevant experience or a combination of related experience, education and training
  • Must maintain a valid driver’s license with the ability to drive an automobile
  • Part 107 drone license required for roof inspections; license must be obtained within 5 months of start date and exam must be passed within 3 attempts
  • Work is split approximately up to 90% field and 10% office, contingent upon assigned claim type(s) within a specific geographic territory
  • Physical dexterity to walk, reach, climb, and crawl to inspect damage, sometimes in unfavorable working conditions or inclement weather
  • Ability to lift, carry, and climb ladders weighing up to 80 pounds may be required for property claims
  • Ability to climb and access two-plus story structures
  • Ability to work beyond normal business hours as business needs dictate
  • Full-time field work in the Grayslake, Illinois surrounding areas
  • Extensive travel and on-call availability, with ability to deploy at any time for extended periods
