About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Take end-to-end technical ownership of complex, high-impact machine learning features
- Design, prototype, and implement predictive models for supply chain and sourcing challenges
- Architect machine learning solutions that provide calibrated inputs to large-scale mathematical optimization engines
- Partner with software architects to design scalable, automated machine learning pipelines
- Drive robust MLOps practices for model deployment, monitoring, and retraining within Coupa’s multi-tenant SaaS platform
- Mentor senior and junior data scientists
- Establish code review standards and lead system design sessions
- Collaborate with Product Managers and Engineering leaders to define requirements and translate business objectives into ML specifications
- Manage algorithmic trade-offs
- Lead feature engineering from complex real-world datasets and identify data signals to improve model accuracy
Requirements
What you’ll need- Master’s degree or Ph.D. in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a closely related quantitative field
- 8+ years of industry experience applying machine learning methods and deploying production-level models in commercial software environments
- Expert knowledge of predictive modeling, time-series forecasting, and modern machine learning frameworks such as Scikit-Learn, PyTorch, TensorFlow, and XGBoost
- Production-grade programming proficiency in Python
- Understanding of software design patterns, object-oriented programming, and CI/CD best practices
- Expert-level SQL skills
- Extensive experience with data manipulation and feature engineering on large datasets
- Excellent communication skills and ability to explain complex statistical behaviors and model trade-offs to product and business leaders
- Preferred: Deep domain expertise in Supply Chain Network Design, Demand Planning, Strategic Procurement, or Logistics
- Preferred: Familiarity with Operations Research concepts such as Linear Programming and MIP, and commercial solvers such as Gurobi or CPLEX
- Preferred: Experience developing and deploying ML microservices on AWS SageMaker, GCP, Docker, or Kubernetes
- Preferred: Experience with distributed computing frameworks such as PySpark and Databricks
- Preferred: Experience integrating Large Language Models to extract features from unstructured enterprise text data
