About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Facilitate timely and accurate physician documentation in the medical record through concurrent chart review
- Communicate and collaborate with physicians, nursing, ancillary staff, and Health Information Management coders
- Provide ongoing education to the patient care team regarding proper clinical documentation using approved guidelines
- Understand and utilize ICD-10-CM and PCS coding assignments
- Follow Official Coding Guidelines
Requirements
What you’ll need- Graduate of an approved nursing program
- 3 years of acute care experience
- Registered Nursing License
- Ability to apply coding guidelines when reviewing documentation in the medical record
- Ability to perform computer data entry
- Ability to work with others and communicate effectively
- Preferred: Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
- Preferred: 5 years of acute care experience
- Preferred experience in ED, ICU, Neuro or Stepdown
- Preferred: CCDS or CDIP
