About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead fundamental investment research and identify value creation opportunities
  • Develop investment recommendations and execute transactions
  • Monitor and manage portfolio investments
  • Manage relationships with internal and external investment partners
  • Research, analyze and evaluate investment opportunities
  • Participate in meetings with company management teams, industry experts and analysts
  • Perform due diligence on financial performance, management teams, investment merits and risks, regulatory environment and industry dynamics
  • Develop sophisticated dynamic financial models, including assumption and sensitivity testing
  • Oversee analytical investment reviews and recommendations
  • Present investment recommendations to the Investment Committee and Board as required
  • Assist with development, implementation and monitoring of existing portfolios
  • Update financial models and analytical tools to support idea generation and changes in investment views
  • Manage and guide junior team members and assist with departmental initiatives, processes and meetings

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Undergraduate degree in Business, Finance, Economics or relevant field
  • 5–7 years of relevant work experience
  • Strong research, analytical, financial modeling, valuation, problem-solving skills and ability to think creatively
  • Experience in deal environments, including diligence and structuring processes related to acquisitions, financing transactions or investments, and/or asset management activities
  • Experience managing successful negotiations with multiple stakeholders and executing a wide range of agreements
  • Advanced computer/technical skills, including MS Excel and MS PowerPoint
  • Solid verbal and written communication skills
  • Advanced degree or CFA certification is an asset
