About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Perform, support, and lead on-site construction inspection, observation, and documentation services
- Supervise and direct junior staff in support of project managers
- Serve as the engineer’s on-site liaison with contractors and clients
- Assist clients with proper execution of the work
- Prepare, maintain, and distribute construction documentation, including daily reports, pay estimates, change orders, shop drawings, material submittals, progress schedules, project correspondence, testing results, and record drawings
- Assist with planning and design of civil and transportation projects
- Perform AutoCAD drafting, surveying, materials testing, and other assigned duties
- Communicate, understand, and implement construction documents, plans, and specifications
- Work with horizontal and vertical layout, site development, grading, drainage, asphalt and concrete paving, pavement marking, signage, erosion control, utilities, quantity takeoffs, cost estimates, and construction scheduling
Requirements
What you’ll need- Associate’s degree or two-year technical degree in Engineering Technology or related field
- Equivalent experience in lieu of a degree will be considered
- General knowledge and understanding of construction of transportation, site development, and civil infrastructure projects
- Ability to clarify and interpret construction documents
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office products and AutoCAD for civil and site design projects
- Ability to manage personnel and delegate tasks
- Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and work on multiple projects
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Willingness to accept out-of-town travel assignments and work overtime
- Valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record
- Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Legal authorization to work in the U.S. without sponsorship
- Successful completion of a security background check
- Ability to routinely lift 25+ lbs
- Ability to work and maneuver equipment around active construction sites
- Previous construction or internship experience preferred but not required
- Aviation-related project experience not required
