About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Lead and support diverse client projects through hands-on coding, software architecture, solution design, delivery leadership, and project management
Deliver high-value, high-impact client outcomes and reliable, scalable solutions
Manage a team of technical direct reports working on client projects
Provide direct reports with actionable feedback, technical guidance, and mentoring
Work with clients at every level to understand problems, set expectations, and maximise business value
Represent CreateFuture as an engagement lead
Communicate designs, trade-offs, and constraints in the context of client goals
Lead architecture, solution design, and documentation; make pragmatic technology choices
Contribute code where appropriate and set engineering standards for reviews, testing, and maintainability
Troubleshoot complex issues and drive root-cause fixes and follow-up actions
Own technical outcomes by scoping, estimating, planning, and tracking agreed goals
Highlight risks, issues, and dependencies and escalate with options, impacts, and recommendations
Ensure actionable backlogs and realistic plans; communicate timelines and team-shape needs
Guide direct reports, remove impediments, address performance issues, and run team meetings, 1:1s, objectives, and reviews
Contribute to hiring, delivery practices, standards, and pre-sales
Build trusted client relationships, translate business needs into technical plans, manage expectations and scope, and identify follow-on opportunities

Requirements

What you’ll need

Proven, hands-on technical leader delivering complex software
Demonstrated thought-leadership supporting clients and colleagues in understanding modern technology and processes
Ability to line-manage a team of engineers while maintaining personal delivery contributions
Commercial experience in at least one of Java, .NET, Python, or TypeScript
Commercial experience with at least one major cloud: Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform
Experience with modern infrastructure practices including containers, continuous integration/continuous delivery, and infrastructure as code
Strong delivery fundamentals including estimation, planning, and risk/issue/dependency management
Ability to communicate designs and trade-offs clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders
Skilled in difficult conversations and actionable feedback; able to set clear standards and hold people accountable
Desirable: experience tailoring Scrum or Kanban to context
Desirable: experience in change transformation projects involving significant Artificial Intelligence adoption
Desirable: breadth across multiple languages or disciplines, such as Rust, test automation, or DevOps/platform engineering
Desirable: experience across multiple clouds and cloud-native services
Desirable: contribution to recruitment and pre-sales in a consultancy context
Desirable: representation of CreateFuture in the external tech community
