About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Assess clients’ financial situations, including income, expenses, and debt obligations
- Provide personalized options and strategies for managing and resolving debts
- Offer ongoing support through a Debt Management Program where applicable
- Help clients pay off debts with interest relief
- Answer client questions and follow up to support financial stability
- Provide compassionate guidance to clients navigating financial challenges
- Complete comprehensive training and pursue the CFC certification within two years
- Participate in variable shifts and six Saturday shifts annually
- Work remotely, with up to one in-office day per week if located near a CCS office
- Attend periodic in-person meetings or events with advance notice
- Build team connections through online chat groups and culture-building activities
Requirements
What you’ll need- Post-secondary degree or diploma is an asset but not required
- Three to five years of experience in financial services, counselling, social services, or related fields
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Genuine desire to help people and collaborate as part of a team
- Goal-oriented mindset
- Ability to influence and guide others, including addressing concerns and overcoming objections
- Strong organizational skills, including multitasking, prioritizing, and time management
- Availability to work variable shifts scheduled between 7:30 AM and 8:00 PM local time
- Flexibility for early mornings may be required
- Six Saturday shifts per year are required
- Fluency in both English and French in written and verbal communication is an asset
- Successful candidates must complete the Certified Financial Counsellor Canada (CFC) certification within two years of their start date
- Must be eligible to work in Canada on a full-time basis
