About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead and manage the preconstruction phase from conceptual design to construction readiness
- Collaborate with project managers, architects, engineers, and clients to define project scope, budget, timeline, and goals
- Organize and attend preconstruction meetings with stakeholders
- Develop and manage project cost estimates covering materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor bids
- Perform value engineering and identify cost-saving opportunities
- Develop and manage preliminary construction schedules and detailed project timelines
- Identify preconstruction risks and develop mitigation strategies
- Review contract documents for issues or discrepancies
- Maintain records and documentation including drawings, specifications, and contracts
- Provide updates to senior leadership, clients, and stakeholders
- Lead and mentor estimators, coordinators, and assistants
- Foster collaboration and communication across the preconstruction team
- Maintain relationships with clients, subcontractors, and external partners
- Serve as the primary client contact during preconstruction
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a related field (preferred)
- Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in construction management or preconstruction
- Strong understanding of estimating, budgeting, and scheduling
- Proven experience managing complex construction projects from concept to completion
- Strong knowledge of construction processes, project management, and preconstruction methodologies
- Proficiency in construction management software such as Procore, Buildertrend, or ProEst
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving ability
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet tight deadlines
- LEED AP, PMP, or other relevant certifications
- OSHA 30-hour certification or equivalent safety training
