About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Define and lead the technology vision, principles, and reference roadmaps for the Energy & Critical Infrastructure cluster
  • Act as technical authority for regulated, safety-critical energy software across metering, head end systems, substations, grids, and renewables
  • Develop scalable, reusable architectures and assets across customers
  • Set standards for cybersecurity, interoperability, and secure design in critical infrastructure
  • Serve as escalation point for complex architectural, safety, and regulatory decisions
  • Introduce AI into energy delivery while balancing innovation, security, and regulation
  • Work with the CTO to build capabilities and strengthen Critical Software's position as an energy engineering partner
  • Mentor senior engineers and architects across the cluster
  • Represent Critical Software in industry and standards forums

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 5+ years of software engineering and technical leadership experience
  • Significant experience in energy, utilities, or critical infrastructure
  • Experience with safety-critical or mission-critical systems
  • Strong grasp of the energy ecosystem, including utilities, TSOs, DSOs, OEMs, metering vendors, and technology partners
  • Expertise in smart metering and grid, head end systems, substation automation, embedded and connected platforms, and energy data platforms
  • Solid command of cybersecurity, interoperability, and secure design for regulated environments
  • Practical knowledge of AI and ML in operational energy, including value, risk, validation, and security
  • Ability to communicate complex technical and regulatory topics clearly
  • Experience leading through influence and mentoring senior technical people
  • Strong sense of responsibility toward safety, reliability, quality, and ethics
  • Strategic, pragmatic, and resilient approach
  • Alignment with Critical Software's mission and values
  • Excellent English communication skills
