About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Design, develop and maintain enterprise applications using Java and Spring Boot
Develop modern, responsive frontend applications using Angular or React
Design, implement and maintain REST APIs and integrations with internal and external systems
Contribute to software architecture decisions, including microservices and distributed systems
Write clean, maintainable and well-tested code following software engineering best practices
Participate in code reviews, automated testing, troubleshooting and performance optimisation
Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, application deployments and continuous improvement initiatives
Collaborate with business analysts, architects, testers, product owners and other developers
Participate in Agile ceremonies, technical discussions and continuous delivery activities
Support maintenance and modernisation of existing applications while contributing to new developments
Work in onshore or nearshore collaboration models for long-term software development projects for an international client
Attend mandatory on-site work in Brussels according to the applicable arrangement

Requirements

What you’ll need

Strong professional experience with Java, preferably Java 17 or higher
Spring Framework, Spring Boot, REST APIs, JPA/Hibernate and microservices
Professional experience with Angular or React, TypeScript, JavaScript, HTML and CSS
Strong SQL knowledge and experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL, Oracle or equivalent
Experience with Microsoft Azure is a strong advantage
Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, Git, Docker and Kubernetes
Experience with unit testing, integration testing and automated testing frameworks
Understanding of modern software architecture, design patterns and clean-code principles
Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology or a related field, or equivalent professional experience
Minimum 5 years of professional software development experience, with a strong focus on Java
Proven experience in both backend and frontend development
Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within an international development team
Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving skills and attention to code quality
Experience developing and maintaining complex enterprise applications
Fluent English, both written and spoken, is mandatory
French is an advantage but not required
Proactive attitude, ownership and willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies
Onshore candidates must be based in Belgium and have valid authorisation to work in the country
Nearshore candidates must be based in Europe
Applicable on-site requirements are mandatory
