About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Serve as a trusted partner to clients across a broad range of industries, company stages, and sizes
- Deliver tailored integrated solutions addressing client challenges and future success
- Lead client delivery engagements
- Lead teams and develop junior team members
- Contribute to business development initiatives
- Aid clients in developing streamlined monthly close processes
- Assist with cash-to-accrual conversions and supporting schedules
- Validate assets and prepare roll forwards
- Prepare balance sheet reconciliations
- Support accounting compliance, financial statement preparation, internal controls, and policies
- Prepare budgets, forecasts, and management or regulatory reports
- Guide implementation of cloud-based finance and accounting systems
- Manage journal entries, invoices, and account reconciliations during closings
- Guide companies through external audit processes
- Support SEC filings, reporting processes, restatements, and 10-K, 10-Q, and 8-K filings
- Improve financial planning and analysis
- Review internal and regulatory reporting
- Liaise with non-accounting business units
- Advise clients on AI and automation tools
- Partner with IT teams to integrate financial systems during acquisitions
Requirements
What you’ll need- 8+ years of experience spanning advisory and controllership roles for commercial or PE-backed portfolio companies
- Strong foundation in professional services, including public accounting, advisory firms, or management consulting firms
- 2+ years of hands-on Controllership experience in emerging growth middle-market organizations and/or PE-backed portfolio companies
- Software SaaS, Healthcare, or broad B2B industry exposure preferred
- Hands-on experience or significant exposure to ERP systems and tools such as NetSuite, Sage, MS Dynamics, QuickBooks, Workiva, DFIN, Tableau, PowerBI, Alteryx, Snowflake, SQL, and Python
- Ability to leverage AI and automation to optimize accounting processes, enhance reporting accuracy, and drive operational efficiency
- Proven ability to build strong client relationships
- Track record of implementing new ideas and initiatives
- Demonstrated success mentoring and leading teams
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- Willingness to travel domestically up to 40%
- Ability to participate in a hybrid office environment
