About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Lead, mentor, and grow a team of SDETs while building test frameworks, writing automation, developing tooling, and debugging complex failures
Own and drive testing strategy across functional, performance, contract, and chaos/resilience testing for the AIDR platform
Trace distributed calls, identify root causes, and write regression tests for production issues
Participate in code and design reviews with a quality-first lens
Define and maintain quality gates across CI/CD pipelines
Partner with backend and UI engineering managers on quality standards, shared tooling, and testing best practices
Manage team capacity, sprint planning, and delivery commitments
Improve observability and monitoring and implement quality improvements to prevent outages
Recruit, hire, and onboard SDET talent
Conduct performance reviews and support career development
Leverage AI-powered tools and agentic workflows to enhance testing automation and efficiency
Lead end-to-end validation of AIDR services across cloud backend services and UI applications

Requirements

What you’ll need

10+ years of experience in software development/SDET roles
At least 3+ years in an engineering management role leading SDET or quality engineering teams
Strong hands-on coding ability
Experience building testing frameworks and tooling for Cloud SaaS products or similar SOA at scale
Experience defining and driving testing strategy at a team or organizational level
Strong debugging skills in complex distributed architectures
Expertise in at least one of Golang, Python, Java, or JavaScript/TypeScript
Deep experience with cloud distributed systems technologies such as Kubernetes, PostgreSQL, Redis, and Kafka
Experience with cloud services such as AWS, GCP, or OCI
Extensive experience with testing tools and frameworks such as Jest, Cypress, Playwright, JUnit, TestNG, and Go testing
Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automated testing integration
Experience developing and deploying in containerized environments such as Docker and Kubernetes
Experience testing REST and/or gRPC APIs and real-time or high-volume data systems
Strong people leadership skills
Excellent communication skills
Proven experience utilizing AI technologies to enhance decision-making, streamline workflows, and drive business outcomes
Previous experience in cybersecurity companies or security-focused products is a bonus
Understanding of AI/ML security challenges, threats, and mitigation strategies is a bonus
Experience with low-latency cloud services using gRPC and event-driven messaging systems such as Kafka or Pulsar is a bonus
Experience with chaos engineering and resilience testing is a bonus
Experience with UI test automation and front-end validation frameworks is a bonus
Experience with performance testing and load generation at scale is a bonus
Hands-on experience with OCI, GCP, and/or Microsoft Azure is a bonus
Experience leveraging AI and agentic tools to enhance testing workflows and automation is a bonus
Golang experience is a bonus
Experience managing teams that own shared testing infrastructure is a bonus
Track record of building quality engineering culture is a bonus
Contributions to open source libraries or frameworks are a bonus
