About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Develop and implement tax planning strategies for various clients
- Research tax issues for tax planning and compliance and prepare research memoranda
- Identify and implement tax planning opportunities, including tax reorganizations, estate plans, and postmortem tax planning
- Assist senior staff with corporate tax initiatives
- Maintain current knowledge of tax codes, regulations, and technical information
- Utilize staff to meet client deliverables on time and within budget
- Engage with tax authorities regarding client positions and assessed amounts
- Keep senior managers and partners informed of assigned-task progress
- Move files and engagements forward while managing within time budgets
- Prepare complex tax returns, tax forms, and tax elections
- Write external publications, blog posts, and memoranda
- Present specific tax topics internally and externally
- Guide and support the development of junior tax team members
- Participate in firm promotion events to increase marketplace awareness of the firm and its services
Requirements
What you’ll need- University degree
- Completion or near completion of In-Depth Tax program OR completed a Masters of Taxation program, or CPA
- At least four years’ practical experience, with at minimum one year in a management role, in public practice
- Exceptional technical skills
- Keen attention to detail and ability to focus on overall concepts
- Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced and changing environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong interpersonal, leadership, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to contribute positively to a team environment and work independently when required
- Strong knowledge of CaseWare/Caseview
- Strong knowledge of TaxPrep, CCH Intelliconnect, Taxnet Pro, and Tax Find
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and Outlook
- Ability to manage multiple projects with tight deadlines and work within budgets and timelines
- Strong sense of ethics and professional judgement
- Focus on providing superior client service
