About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide technical support to customers of the North American Food and Household Division
- Ensure customer equipment and can-filling processes run effectively
- Troubleshoot issues involving steel and aluminum can usage
- Set customer seaming equipment to achieve sound double seams
- Diagnose and correct seam defects and seaming machine problems
- Respond to general and emergency breakdown assistance requests
- Arrange proactive customer visits to analyze seam results and provide advice
- Commission new equipment and perform repairs, inspections, and on-site overhauls of closing equipment
- Maintain internal and external communications and update the manager on field developments and competitor activity
- Identify customer personnel training opportunities
- Submit customer service reports and timesheets and record activities
- Perform double seam tear downs, evaluations, and documentation
- Set up, adjust, troubleshoot, audit, repair, rebuild, install, and remove seamers
- Assist with product trials, testing, product quality problems, and double seam training
- Gather and report information on tooling, equipment, products, and processes
- Install tooling and equipment
Requirements
What you’ll need- H.S. Diploma with technical training
- 5-10 years of experience in manufacturing or other machine maintenance
- Experience with can closing equipment preferred but not required
- Effective interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with employees at all levels
- Proven computer skills with a complete understanding of Word, Excel and Outlook
- Strong mechanical aptitude with technical training in equipment and machinery repair and maintenance
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to travel up to 70-80%, both driving and flying
- Effective time management skills and the ability to balance multiple projects at one time
