About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Support metal packaging customers of Crown North American Food Division in the Northeast United States and Canada
  • Travel primarily to customer facilities to troubleshoot processes, investigate product quality issues, and conduct trials in food manufacturing environments
  • Serve as the primary technical contact for customers
  • Act as liaison among customers, Crown Sales, R&D, Engineering, Quality, and Manufacturing
  • Provide problem-solving leadership on technical and quality matters relating to food cans and end performance
  • Manage the overall technical interface between the Food Division and customers
  • Support customers in technical aspects of current packages and new package development
  • Develop and manage technical meetings with the company and customers to discuss ideas, issues, and solutions
  • Interact directly with customers and internal manufacturing operations
  • Partner with Sales, R&D, Engineering, and Manufacturing to develop strategies and action plans for current and potential new customers
  • Perform extensive travel of up to 80% to service customer needs

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • BA/BS degree in Food Science, Engineering, Packaging or a related discipline
  • 2+ years in a packaging manufacturing environment, food production or a similar industry
  • Experience interfacing with customers in a technical capacity: field testing, qualification trials, claims management, etc.
  • Experience with double seaming technology, various food canning equipment, and troubleshooting associated problems is highly preferred but not required
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to interact with customers and employees at all levels of the organization
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage multiple projects to completion
  • Self-motivated and eager to take initiative
  • Ability to work effectively in a team setting and as an individual
  • Well organized and detail oriented with good time management skills
  • Strong PC skills, especially using Word, Outlook, and Excel
  • Committed to ongoing personal development and career growth
  • Knowledge and/or certification in Six Sigma is a bonus
  • Ability to travel extensively, up to 80%
  • Ability to perform physical duties including sitting, standing, walking, reaching, and potentially balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 30 lbs.
  • Required vision abilities include close, distance, and color vision, and ability to adjust focus
  • Ability to work in plant and office environments, with exposure to moving mechanical parts, vehicular traffic, varying temperatures, and frequently loud noise
