About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Assist with preparing supporting documentation for reconciliations between IFRS 4 and IFRS 17
- Coordinate email communications with internal teams to request, track, and follow up on time-sensitive reporting deliverables
- Assist senior accountants and management with pulling reports, verifying data accuracy, and identifying discrepancies
- Prepare and maintain quarter-close files to support an accurate and timely close process
- Support testing activities related to system changes and process updates
- Identify opportunities to automate files and streamline reporting processes using AI and other tools
- Support IFRS 17 reporting to help ensure compliance with accounting requirements
- Assist with related projects as directed by Fairfax Financial Holdings Limited
Requirements
What you’ll need- Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related fields
- College or university student entering their junior or senior year
- Intermediate/Strong Excel skills, including VLOOKUP, Pivot Table, and SUMIF
- Exposure to AI-enabled tools and curiosity for applying technology to streamline reporting and workflow processes
- Clear verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to collaborate effectively with team members and other departments
- Openness to feedback, new tasks, and adapting to changes in a dynamic work environment
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Exceptional attention to detail
- Ability to adapt quickly to new challenges
