About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead a book of debt mandates from IOI through close as primary negotiator and senior execution lead
- Drive lender diligence, structuring, negotiation, documentation, and closing
- Own transaction velocity and close rates across the deal book
- Contribute to Debt team revenue and P&L targets
- Author credit memos and pricing recommendations
- Present transactions to Credit Committee
- Lead deal teams, staff transactions, review underwriting, diligence, and financial models
- Mentor junior team members on credit and execution
- Execute debt transactions with lenders and institutional capital providers
- Partner with Industry Coverage to qualify opportunities and provide market and financeability feedback
- Partner with Investments on tax-equity and preferred-equity attach transactions
- Lead workstreams for new lender programs, financing structures, and documentation standards
- Build and standardize repeatable execution processes
- Drive adoption of AI-enabled modeling and automation
- Partner with Product and Engineering on transaction tooling
- Represent Crux in webinars, whitepapers, conferences, and industry dialogues
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, or related field
- 10–12+ years of total experience
- 7+ years in renewable energy project finance, infrastructure debt, or structured lending
- Track record of leading construction, term, back-leverage, or debt capital markets transactions as the primary negotiator
- Deep expertise in project finance debt structures for solar, wind, and storage
- Hands-on negotiation of credit agreements and intercreditor arrangements
- Understanding of the interplay between tax equity and debt
- Experience preparing and presenting transactions to credit or investment committee
- Experience from both lender and sponsor/advisory side ideally
- Experience leading and mentoring deal teams
- Experience reviewing underwriting and modeling work
- Exceptional negotiation and relationship skills with developers, lenders, and investors
- Strong judgment and ability to operate autonomously
- Strong interest in technology and AI for debt execution
- FINRA SIE, Series 79 and 63 required or willingness to obtain under Crux's broker-dealer sponsorship
