About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide technical leadership and directly manage a development team
- Serve as the squad’s technical Owner, responsible for delivery, environment health, and team members’ growth
- Work closely with the PM and PO
- Lead architectural decisions and ensure the technical quality of deliverables
- Support the individual development of direct reports and be accountable for product support and maintenance
- Directly manage the team and conduct 1:1 meetings
- Support and mentor the creation of Individual Development Plans (IDPs) and ensure the onboarding of new members
- Provide technical and agile leadership, encouraging maturity and technical mentoring
- Align performance and motivation, formalize feedback, and recommend personnel changes
- Foster an agile, positive, and collaborative team culture
- Identify opportunities to optimize resource allocation
- Own delivery and ensure increments are delivered at the end of each Sprint
- Participate in PIs, Plannings, Reviews, and Retrospectives
- Contribute a technical perspective to product Roadmaps
- Collaborate with the PM on backlog prioritization and technical descriptions
- Support the team in ensuring that stories are technically complete and estimated
- Lead technical refinement sessions and address risks and interdependencies
- Identify and escalate technical impediments during the Sprint
- Participate in meetings with architecture, product, infrastructure, support, and vendors
- Promote technical guidelines and the agile model
- Ensure appropriate technical decisions for features and hotfixes
- Foster code reviews and ensure the technical quality of stories, technical debt, and other work items
- Prioritize technical debt and vulnerabilities in the backlog
- Oversee the scalability, observability, and technical metrics of the environment, including in the cloud
- Own the squad’s support and maintenance process for Incidents, Problems, and Changes
- Define on-call schedules and support coverage on weekends, holidays, and outside business hours when necessary
- Safeguard the reliability and longevity of the environment
Requirements
What you’ll need- Education: Bachelor’s degree completed
- Technical leadership and direct management of a development team
- Proficiency in Java 17+
- Proficiency in Spring Boot
- Proficiency in Oracle
- Proficiency in PostgreSQL
- Knowledge of messaging systems
- Knowledge of Azure Pipelines
- Knowledge of observability using Datadog and Grafana
- Ability to work in an environment with legacy systems and modern architecture
