About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Handle a narrow spectrum of product-certification projects generating moderate revenue levels
- Perform contract reviews, product evaluations, construction evaluations, and test-plan determinations under supervision
- Classify products and determine applicable requirements, standards, tests, samples, and testing methods
- Collaborate with Lab Technicians to create work orders, define required tests, determine test order, and specify sample quantities
- Conduct pre-assessments of equipment with mentor assistance
- Evaluate products against national and international standards
- Assist laboratory personnel and perform tests when required
- Prepare findings communications, certification reports, certificates of compliance, and related CSA documentation
- Prepare project quotations for cost and time
- Explain product-certification programs and production-control requirements to clients
- Provide client feedback to mentors, managers, team leaders, project holders, or sales representatives
- Prepare test lab work orders and special testing documentation
- Guide Lab Technicians on requirements and data-collection methods
- Set up and operate test equipment within an assigned product area
- Conduct witness-test programs at manufacturers' accredited laboratories as needed
- Research standards and participate in formal, informal, and team training
- Perform other duties assigned by mentors or managers
Requirements
What you’ll need- Good understanding of the company certification process, accreditation requirements, and governing quality management procedures
- Ability to accurately perform contract review, evaluation, and test-plan determination under supervision
- Understanding of testing elements for specific standards, including proper test selection and failure criteria
- Ability to conduct construction evaluations against applicable standards
- Ability to classify products by use, environment, and function
- Ability to determine applicable requirements, tests, standards, sample requirements, and testing methods/locations
- Ability to prepare work orders, test plans, findings communications, certification reports, and certificates of compliance
- Ability to set up and operate test equipment within an assigned product area under supervision
- Ability to record and report evaluations, tests, and calculations with all relevant standard-required data
- Ability to research national and international standards and participate in training
