About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Own the architecture and long-term evolution of web applications, application services, real-time data flows, and their contracts
- Lead design of a real-time data visualization and AI insight platform for industrial operators and executives
- Drive major technical initiatives and migrations from proposal through delivery
- Manage sequencing, risk, and organizational alignment for technical initiatives
- Set engineering quality standards for testing, observability, performance, and security
- Build tooling and practices that maintain engineering quality as the team grows
- Translate ambiguous customer and product needs into technical strategy
- Mentor senior and junior engineers and lead design reviews
- Participate in an on-call rotation and lead the hardest production incidents
- Convert production incidents into durable platform improvements
- Travel to customer sites to understand operator workflows and improve the platform
- Collaborate with product, design, modeling, and backend engineering teams
- Influence product direction, platform architecture, engineering practices, and team growth
Requirements
What you’ll need- Python, TypeScript, React, Supabase, MQTT, Figma, PostgreSQL, AWS, and GitHub are included in the technology stack
- A decade or more of experience building and operating production software across front end, back end, and data layers
- Deep expertise in Python and/or TypeScript
- Experience designing and shipping multiple generations of a modern web application at scale
- Experience with complex UI state, real-time data, and performance under load
- Strong architectural judgment for cloud infrastructure, databases, and event-driven or real-time systems
- Track record of making architectural decisions that aged well
- Demonstrated experience with data visualization, dashboards, or analytical interfaces
- Awareness of the latest developments in AI-assisted development and agentic systems
- Clear written and verbal communication skills, including carrying architectural arguments with engineers, product, and customers
- Comfort with the ownership, pace, and evolving requirements of an early-stage company
- Willingness to travel occasionally, both domestically and internationally
