About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Assess informatics department requirements and identify opportunities to integrate new technologies and system processes
Assist with management of data, reporting, and analytics functions
Coach the informatics team on statistical and computational methods for research data analysis
Conduct literature reviews on data management, information systems, machine learning, and artificial intelligence
Confer with industry partners to apply research findings in real-world settings
Design documentation systems covering specifications, architectural diagrams, and user guides
Design, develop, and maintain data solutions in Google Cloud Platform and Python for HEDIS data workflow migration and modernization
Develop complex data migration systems and coordinate with data management teams to ensure accurate information transfer
Establish testing systems to verify informatics requirements and functions
Improve HEDIS data ingestion, validation, processing, reporting, and supplemental-data integration for quality measurement and regulatory reporting
Develop reusable, validated, and documented clinical data assets, including tables, views, and features
Create and maintain data dictionaries, lineage, business logic, limitations, and appropriate-use guidelines
Build queries, dashboards, and visualizations communicating data quality metrics, data availability, and clinical insights
Collaborate with data engineering teams on clinical data pipeline development

Requirements

What you’ll need

5+ years of relevant experience in clinical informatics, healthcare analytics, or clinical data management
5+ years of experience coding in SQL and Python
Experience working with large-scale healthcare datasets
Familiarity with clinical data types and structures, including CCD data, lab results, clinical notes, and administrative healthcare data
Ability to support downstream data consumers through documentation, training, and consultative support
Familiarity with cloud-based data platforms, preferably Google Cloud Platform (GCP), including BigQuery
Understanding of healthcare data quality principles, including validation, profiling, and monitoring
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Preferred: healthcare data platform experience and understanding of interoperability standards
Preferred: familiarity with clinical workflows and HIEs
Preferred: experience with standardized clinical code systems, including ICD-10, SNOMED CT, LOINC, RxNorm, and UMLS
Preferred: experience in ETL design and implementation from heterogeneous clinical sources into different data standards
Bachelor's degree in health informatics, Public Health, Health Information Management, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related quantitative or clinical field—or an equivalent combination of formal education and experience
Preferred: reside near Scottsdale, Arizona
