About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Execute day-to-day pharmacy operations related to workflow, production quotas, and deadlines
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal pharmacy regulations, DEA policies, third-party payor rules, Omnicare SOPs, controlled substance laws, SOX, USP 797/795, purchasing initiatives, and formulary initiatives
- Apply Omnicare long-term care and home infusion pharmacy policies and procedures
- Supervise pharmacy production staff regarding order entry, workflow, pharmacy security, and delivery schedules
- Check completeness and accuracy of new and refill labels and orders
- Check drug packaging and labeling for content and accuracy
- Perform prospective drug utilization review, including therapy appropriateness, high-risk medications, allergies, adverse indications, interactions, and other potential adverse outcomes
- Remain informed of medication storage, stability, and administration requirements
- Prepare and/or supervise sterile IV drug products or solutions
- Maintain required IV documentation and clinically monitor and supervise IV department colleagues
- Assist with ordering, counting, handling, receiving, documenting, and storing controlled substances
- Maintain perpetual inventory for Schedule II drugs
- Maintain emergency kit dispensing, including ekits and Omnicells
- Provide evening, weekend, and holiday coverage during scheduled on-call rotation and as required by management
- Follow applicable government regulations, including HIPAA
- Communicate ongoing issues to Pharmacy Management
- Perform medication occurrence reporting, drug recall surveillance, and reporting
- Perform other duties as assigned; duties may vary by location
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree required
- BS Degree in Pharmacy or Pharm.D. degree from an accredited School of Pharmacy required
- Current license to practice pharmacy in OH, in good standing
- 1 to 3 years of relevant work experience required
- Ability to read, write, speak and understand English
- At least two years of long-term care experience preferred
- Immunization certification or willingness to become immunization certified
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently to plan, develop and coordinate pharmacy activities
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret complex topics, apply advanced mathematical concepts, and draw valid conclusions
- Knowledge of American Society of Consultant Pharmacist guidelines for practice
- Knowledge of state and federal pharmacy regulations and drug indicators for long-term care centers
- Knowledge of government regulations impacting pharmacy
- Ability to provide evening, weekend, and holiday coverage during scheduled on-call rotation
- Ability to sit or stand seven to ten hours per day and work extended hours as needed
- Finger dexterity to operate office equipment
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally
- Visual acuity for fine print, close vision, color vision, and focus adjustment
- Ability to hear normal voice sounds
