About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Develop and negotiate contracts with pharmaceutical and medical supply manufacturers
- Guide manufacturer strategy, account relationship management, and cost management
- Formulate procurement, supply, distribution, tier, rebate-based performance, and formulary management strategies
- Achieve operational, functional, and business targets for Pharma Contracting
- Develop complex strategies using project management tools, data analyses, and stakeholder feedback
- Direct account management and manufacturer negotiations to control drug and medical supply costs
- Establish pharmaceutical and medical supplier contracts
- Devise negotiation strategies to drive financial and operational efficiencies
- Identify and evaluate new business opportunities to generate additional margin
- Mentor junior colleagues and provide functional matrix supervision
- Manage relationships with established blood product manufacturers, including hemophilia and IVIG manufacturers
- Manage pharmaceutical relationships at a leadership level and improve pharmaceutical product costs
Requirements
What you’ll need- 10+ years work experience
- 8 years experience in specialty pharmacy, healthcare, contracting or pharmaceutical industry required
- Successful experience in business development and contracting
- Experience effectively presenting in front of large, executive-level customer audiences
- Ability to travel up to 20% of the time as needed
- Adept at execution and delivery skills
- Adept at business intelligence
- Adept at collaboration and teamwork
- Mastery of problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Bachelor's degree required; equivalent combination of experience and/or education may be considered
- MBA preferred
- 5 years experience managing specialty/biologic manufacturer relationships preferred
- 2 years experience with contract negotiations and successful completion of contracts strongly preferred
