About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Follow company SOPs at each workstation to support pharmacists and improve patient health
- Follow pharmacy workflow procedures across production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off
- Fulfill prescriptions safely and accurately
- Provide empathetic, personalized service to patients at pick-up, drive-thru, and by phone
- Offer immunizations and other services at the register and over the phone where permitted
- Solve or escalate patient problems
- Complete inventory activities including medication deliveries, cycle counts, returns-to-stocks, and waiting-bin inventories
- Contribute to a high-performing, inclusive pharmacy team and expand clinical and technical knowledge
- Remain flexible for scheduling and business needs, including voluntary travel to market stores for shifts
- Comply with applicable laws, regulations, professional standards, ethical principles, and CVS policies
- Support patient healthcare services such as immunizations, point-of-care testing, and offsite clinics where permitted and trained
- Complete additional licensure and training to obtain Technician Immunizer status where applicable
- Educate patients about vaccines and refer vaccination questions to the pharmacist
- Monitor and respond to adverse vaccine reactions and report events
- Review and document patient information
- Monitor and manage vaccine supplies
- Perform other tasks as directed by the supervisor or manager
Requirements
What you’ll need- Must comply with applicable state board of pharmacy requirements or laws governing pharmacy practice, including age, education, and licensure/certification
- If no state-mandated minimum age applies, must be at least 16 years of age
- If no state-mandated minimum educational requirement applies, must have a high school diploma or equivalent, or be actively enrolled in high school or a high school equivalency program
- Must satisfy applicable state-level licensure and national certification requirements
- Ability to complete required training within the designated timeframe
- Regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends
- Ability to confirm prescription information and label accuracy
- Verbal and written communication skills
- Active listening skills
- Mathematical reasoning for prescription quantities and supply calculations
- Problem-resolution skills
- Ability to remain mobile and upright for extended periods
- Ability to lift, scan, and bag items; reach overhead; bend and stoop; and perform repetitive finger movements
- Close visual acuity for transcription, computer-terminal viewing, and inspection of small parts
- Occasionally lift up to 20 lbs.; frequently lift up to 10 lbs.
- Preferred: 1–3 years previous experience as a Pharmacy Technician
- Preferred: Previous experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting
- Ability to work in the home store and across the market in other locations as business needs require
