About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Support the pharmacy team in delivering operational and service excellence
- Serve as a first point of contact for patients and customers
- Follow company SOPs and pharmacy workflow procedures at production, pickup, drive-thru, and drop-off workstations
- Ensure prescriptions are filled promptly, safely, and accurately
- Provide empathetic, personalized, and compassionate patient service
- Offer immunizations and other services at the register and over the phone where permitted
- Solve or escalate patient problems
- Complete inventory activities, including medication deliveries, cycle counts, returns-to-stocks, and waiting-bin inventories
- Expand clinical and technical knowledge to better assist patients
- Remain flexible for scheduling and business needs, including voluntarily traveling to market stores for shifts
- Comply with applicable laws, regulations, professional standards, ethical principles, and CVS policies
- Support additional health care services such as immunizations, point-of-care testing, and offsite clinics where allowed and trained
- For Technician Immunizer duties, prepare and administer vaccines, educate patients, refer vaccination questions to the pharmacist, monitor adverse reactions, document patient information, and manage vaccine supplies
- Perform any additional tasks directed by a supervisor or manager
Requirements
What you’ll need- Must comply with applicable state board of pharmacy requirements and laws governing pharmacy practice, including age, education, and licensure/certification
- If no state-mandated minimum age applies, must be at least 16 years old
- If no state-mandated minimum educational requirement applies, must have a high school diploma or equivalent, or be actively enrolled in high school or a high school equivalency program
- Must satisfy applicable state registration, licensing, and certification requirements
- Ability to complete required training within the designated timeframe
- Regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends
- Ability to confirm prescription information and label accuracy
- Verbal and written communication skills
- Mathematical reasoning for prescription fulfillment
- Ability to perform physical duties including standing, lifting, reaching, repetitive finger movements, bending, and close visual work
- Occasionally lift up to 20 lbs and/or exert up to 20 lbs of force
- Frequently lift up to 10 lbs and/or exert up to 10 lbs of force
- 1–3 years of previous Pharmacy Technician experience (preferred)
- Previous experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting (preferred)
- Ability to work in the home store and across the market in other locations to meet business needs (preferred)
