About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Support the pharmacy team in delivering operational and service excellence
- Serve as a first point of contact for patients and customers
- Follow pharmacy workflow procedures for production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off
- Fulfill prescriptions promptly, safely, and accurately
- Provide caring, empathetic, and personalized patient service
- Offer immunizations and other services at the register and over the phone
- Solve or escalate patient problems
- Complete inventory activities, including medication deliveries, cycle counts, returns-to-stocks, and waiting-bin inventories
- Follow company SOPs and comply with federal, state, and local laws and CVS policies
- Contribute to a safe, inclusive, and engaging team environment
- Travel voluntarily to market stores to work shifts as needed
- Deliver additional health care services, including immunizations, point-of-care testing, and offsite clinics where permitted
- Complete additional licensure and training to obtain Technician Immunizer status where applicable
- Educate patients about vaccines and refer vaccination questions to the Pharmacist-on-duty
- Monitor and respond to adverse reactions and report events
- Review, collect, track, and document patient information
- Monitor and manage vaccine supplies
- Perform additional tasks as directed by a Supervisor or Manager
Requirements
What you’ll need- Must apply for a Pharmacy Technician/Pharmacy Technician in Training license from the state of MA
- Must comply with state board of pharmacy requirements or laws governing pharmacy practice, including age, education, and licensure/certification
- If no state-mandated minimum age exists, must be at least 16 years of age
- If no state-mandated minimum educational requirement exists, must have a high school diploma or equivalent, or be actively enrolled in high school or a high school equivalency program
- Must satisfy applicable registration, licensing, and certification requirements according to the State Board of Pharmacy
- Ability to complete required training within the designated timeframe
- Regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends
- Ability to confirm prescription information and label accuracy
- Ability to use math for prescription dispensing calculations
- Ability to complete customer service, communication, problem resolution, and active listening tasks
- Ability to remain mobile and upright for extended periods
- Ability to lift, scan, bag, reach, stoop, type, and perform repetitive finger movements
- Ability to occasionally lift up to 20 lbs and frequently lift up to 10 lbs
- 1–3 years previous experience as a Pharmacy Technician (preferred)
- Previous experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting (preferred)
- Ability to work in the home store and across the market in other locations to meet business needs (preferred)
