About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Support the pharmacy team in delivering operational and service excellence within the store
- Serve as a first point of contact for patients and customers
- Follow standard operating procedures and pharmacy workflow procedures
- Fill prescriptions promptly, safely, and accurately across production, pickup, drive-thru, and drop-off workstations
- Provide compassionate patient service, solve or escalate patient problems, and offer immunizations and other services where permitted
- Complete inventory activities including medication deliveries, cycle counts, returns-to-stocks, and waiting bin inventories
- Contribute to a high-performing, safe, inclusive, and engaging team
- Travel voluntarily to other stores in the market to work shifts as needed
- Comply with federal, state, and local laws, regulations, professional standards, ethics, and CVS policies
- Deliver additional services such as immunizations, point-of-care testing, and offsite clinics where allowed and trained
- Obtain Technician Immunizer status where applicable and prepare/administer vaccines
- Educate patients about vaccines and refer vaccination questions to the pharmacist
- Monitor and respond to adverse reactions and report events
- Review and document patient information and manage vaccine supplies
- Perform additional tasks as directed by the supervisor or manager
Requirements
What you’ll need- Must comply with applicable state board of pharmacy requirements and laws governing pharmacy practice, including age, education, and licensure/certification requirements
- If no state minimum age is mandated, must be at least 16 years of age
- If no state minimum educational requirement is mandated, must have a high school diploma or equivalent, or be actively enrolled in high school or a high school equivalency program
- Must complete required training within the designated timeframe
- Must have regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends
- Ability to confirm prescription information and label accuracy
- Ability to use mathematics for prescription dispensing calculations
- Ability to communicate verbally and in writing with patients and colleagues
- Ability to concentrate, multitask, pivot between tasks, and resolve problems
- Ability to meet physical demands including standing, lifting, reaching, repetitive finger movements, bending, and close visual acuity
- Preferred: 1–3 years of previous experience as a Pharmacy Technician
- Preferred: Previous experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting
- Ability to work in the home store and across market locations as needed
