About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Support the pharmacy team in delivering operational and service excellence
- Serve as an initial point of contact for patients and customers
- Follow company SOPs and pharmacy workflow procedures
- Fulfill prescriptions safely, promptly, and accurately across production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off workstations
- Provide empathetic and personalized patient service in person and over the phone
- Offer immunizations and other services at the register and over the phone, where permitted
- Solve or escalate patient problems
- Complete inventory activities, including medication deliveries, cycle counts, returns-to-stocks, and waiting-bin inventories
- Contribute to a high-performing, safe, inclusive, and engaging team
- Travel voluntarily to other stores in the market to work shifts as needed
- Comply with federal, state, and local laws, regulations, professional standards, ethical principles, and CVS policies
- Support additional health care services such as immunizations, point-of-care testing, and offsite clinics where permitted and trained
- Obtain Technician Immunizer status where applicable
- Educate patients about vaccines and refer vaccination questions to the Pharmacist-on-duty
- Monitor and respond to adverse vaccine reactions and report events
- Review and collect patient information and document applicable patients
- Monitor and manage vaccine supplies
- Perform additional tasks as directed by a Supervisor or Manager
Requirements
What you’ll need- Must comply with applicable state board of pharmacy requirements and laws governing pharmacy practice, including age, education, and licensure/certification
- If no state minimum age is mandated, must be at least 16 years old
- If no state minimum educational requirement is mandated, must have a high school diploma or equivalent, or be actively enrolled in high school or a high school equivalency program
- Must complete required training within the designated timeframe
- Must satisfy applicable state registration, licensing, and certification requirements
- Regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends
- Ability to confirm prescription information and label accuracy
- Verbal and written communication skills
- Active listening skills
- Ability to use mathematics for prescription fulfillment
- Problem-solving skills
- Ability to remain mobile and upright for extended periods
- Ability to lift up to 20 lbs occasionally and up to 10 lbs frequently
- Ability to perform repetitive hand and finger movements, reaching, stooping, and precision tasks
- Close visual acuity for transcription, computer terminal use, and inspection of small parts
- Preferred: 1–3 years of previous experience as a Pharmacy Technician
- Preferred: Previous experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting
- Ability to work in the home store and across the market in other locations
