About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Support the pharmacy team in delivering operational and service excellence within the store
- Serve as a first point of contact for patients and customers
- Follow company SOPs and pharmacy workflow procedures across production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off
- Ensure prescriptions are filled promptly, safely, and accurately
- Provide caring service, solve or escalate patient problems, and support immunizations and other services
- Complete inventory activities including medication deliveries, cycle counts, returns-to-stocks, and waiting-bin inventories
- Expand clinical and technical knowledge and respond to feedback
- Remain flexible for scheduling and business needs, including voluntarily traveling to market stores for shifts
- Comply with federal, state, and local laws, regulations, professional standards, CVS policies, controlled-substance requirements, and patient privacy requirements
- Deliver additional services such as immunizations, point-of-care testing, and offsite clinics where legally permitted and appropriately trained
- Where permissible, support immunizations by obtaining Technician Immunizer status, educating patients, monitoring adverse reactions, documenting patient information, and managing vaccine supplies
- Perform additional tasks as directed by the Supervisor or Manager
Requirements
What you’ll need- Must comply with applicable state board of pharmacy requirements and laws governing pharmacy practice, including age, education, and licensure/certification
- If no state-mandated minimum age applies, must be at least 16 years old
- If no state-mandated minimum educational requirement applies, must have a high school diploma or equivalent, or be actively enrolled in high school or a high school equivalency program
- Must satisfy applicable state registration, licensing, and certification requirements
- Ability to complete required training within the designated timeframe
- Regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends
- Ability to confirm prescription information and label accuracy
- Ability to use verbal and written communication with patients and colleagues
- Mathematical reasoning to calculate tablet quantities, days’ supply, and bottle requirements
- Ability to resolve challenging patient or colleague interactions
- Ability to remain mobile and upright for extended periods
- Ability to lift, scan, and bag items; reach overhead; stoop; and perform repetitive finger movements
- Occasionally lift up to 20 lbs; frequently lift up to 10 lbs
- Preferred: 1–3 years previous experience as a Pharmacy Technician
- Preferred: previous experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting
- Ability to work in the home store and across the market at other locations
