About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Support the pharmacy team in delivering operational and service excellence
  • Serve as a first point of contact for patients and customers
  • Follow company SOPs and pharmacy workflow procedures across production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off workstations
  • Ensure prescriptions are filled promptly, safely, and accurately
  • Provide caring, empathetic, and personalized patient service in person and over the phone
  • Offer immunizations and other services at the register and over the phone where permitted
  • Solve or escalate patient problems
  • Complete inventory activities including putting away medication deliveries, cycle counts, returns-to-stocks, and waiting-bin inventories
  • Expand clinical and technical knowledge and respond to feedback
  • Remain flexible for scheduling and business needs, including voluntarily traveling to market stores for shifts
  • Comply with laws, regulations, professional standards, ethical principles, and CVS policies
  • Deliver additional health care services such as immunizations, point-of-care testing, and staffing offsite clinics when legally permitted and appropriately trained
  • Where permissible, support immunizations by obtaining Technician Immunizer status, educating patients, monitoring adverse reactions, documenting patient information, and managing vaccine supplies
  • Perform any additional tasks directed by a supervisor or manager

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Must comply with applicable state board of pharmacy requirements and laws governing pharmacy practice, including age, education, and licensure/certification requirements
  • If the state board does not mandate a minimum age, must be at least 16 years of age
  • If the state board does not mandate a minimum educational requirement, must have a high school diploma or equivalent, or be actively enrolled in high school or a high school equivalency program
  • Must satisfy applicable state registration, licensing, and certification requirements
  • Ability to complete required training within the designated timeframe
  • Regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends
  • Ability to confirm prescription information and label accuracy
  • Ability to use math for prescription dispensing calculations
  • Verbal and written communication skills
  • Active listening skills
  • Ability to concentrate, multitask, and pivot quickly between tasks
  • Ability to meet physical demands including standing, lifting, reaching, repetitive finger movements, bending, close visual acuity, and lifting up to 20 lbs
  • Preferred: 1–3 years of previous experience as a Pharmacy Technician
  • Preferred: Previous experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting
  • Ability to work in the home store and across the market in other locations as needed
