About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Support the pharmacy team in delivering operational and service excellence within the store
- Assist patients and customers as a first point of contact and deliver an exceptional experience
- Ensure pharmacy operations run smoothly and prescriptions are filled promptly, safely, and accurately
- Follow company SOPs and pharmacy workflow procedures at production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off workstations
- Serve patients with empathy and genuine care in person, at drive-thru, and over the phone
- Offer immunizations and other services at the register and over the phone, where permitted
- Solve or escalate patient problems
- Complete basic inventory activities, including putting away medication deliveries, cycle counts, returns-to-stocks, and waiting bin inventories
- Complete company training and satisfy applicable registration, licensing, and certification requirements
- Remain flexible for scheduling and business needs and voluntarily travel to market stores for shifts
- Comply with federal, state, and local laws, regulations, professional standards, ethical principles, and CVS policies
- Deliver additional health care services such as immunizations, point-of-care testing, and offsite clinics where allowable and trained
- Where permitted, obtain Technician Immunizer status, prepare and administer vaccines, educate patients, monitor adverse reactions, document patient information, and manage vaccine supplies
- Perform any additional tasks directed by the Supervisor or Manager
Requirements
What you’ll need- Must comply with applicable state board of pharmacy requirements and laws governing age, education, and licensure/certification
- If no state-mandated minimum age applies, must be at least 16 years of age
- If no state-mandated minimum educational requirement applies, must have a high school diploma or equivalent, or be actively enrolled in high school or a high school equivalency program
- Must complete required training within the designated timeframe
- Must have regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends
- Must be able to confirm prescription information and label accuracy
- Must be able to use verbal and written communication with patients and colleagues
- Must be able to perform pharmacy-related mathematical reasoning
- Must be able to resolve challenging patient or colleague interactions
- Must be mobile and remain upright for extended periods
- Must lift, scan, and bag items; reach overhead; stoop; and perform repetitive finger movements
- Must have close visual acuity and ability to receive and convey detailed oral information
- Preferred: 1–3 years previous experience as a Pharmacy Technician
- Preferred: Previous experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting
- Preferred: Ability to work in the home store and across the market in other locations
