About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Support the pharmacy team in delivering operational and service excellence
  • Serve as an initial point of contact for patients and customers
  • Follow standard operating procedures and pharmacy workflow procedures
  • Fulfill prescriptions promptly, safely, and accurately
  • Provide caring service at pickup, drive-thru, register, and over the phone
  • Offer immunizations and other services where permitted
  • Solve or escalate patient problems
  • Complete inventory activities such as medication deliveries, cycle counts, returns-to-stocks, and waiting-bin inventories
  • Expand clinical and technical knowledge to better assist patients
  • Remain flexible for scheduling and business needs, including voluntarily traveling to market stores for shifts
  • Comply with laws, regulations, professional standards, ethical principles, and CVS policies
  • Deliver additional health care services such as immunizations, point-of-care testing, and offsite clinics where allowable
  • Where permitted, support immunizations by completing additional training and licensure, educating patients, monitoring adverse reactions, documenting patient information, and managing vaccine supplies
  • Perform additional tasks as directed by the Supervisor or Manager

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Must comply with applicable state board of pharmacy requirements or laws governing pharmacy practice, including age, education, and licensure/certification
  • If no state minimum age is mandated, must be at least 16 years of age
  • If no state minimum educational requirement is mandated, must have a high school diploma or equivalent, or be actively enrolled in high school or a high school equivalency program
  • Must satisfy applicable state registration, licensing, and certification requirements
  • Must complete required training within the designated timeframe
  • Regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends
  • Ability to confirm prescription information and label accuracy
  • Ability to use verbal and written communication with patients and colleagues
  • Ability to use mathematical reasoning for prescription fulfillment
  • Ability to remain mobile and upright for extended periods
  • Ability to lift up to 20 lbs occasionally and up to 10 lbs frequently
  • Preferred: 1–3 years previous experience as a Pharmacy Technician
  • Preferred: Previous experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting
  • Ability to work in the home store and across other market locations as needed
