About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Support the pharmacy team in delivering operational and service excellence
  • Assist patients and customers as a first point of contact
  • Follow pharmacy SOPs and workflow procedures across production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off
  • Ensure prescriptions are filled promptly, safely, and accurately
  • Provide empathetic and personalized patient service and resolve or escalate patient problems
  • Offer immunizations and other services at the register and over the phone where permitted
  • Complete inventory activities, including medication deliveries, cycle counts, returns-to-stock, and waiting-bin inventories
  • Expand clinical and technical knowledge to better assist patients
  • Maintain flexibility for scheduling and business needs, including voluntarily traveling to other market stores
  • Comply with federal, state, and local laws, regulations, professional standards, ethical principles, and CVS policies
  • Deliver additional health care services, including immunizations, point-of-care testing, and offsite clinics, where permitted and appropriately trained
  • Where permitted, obtain Technician Immunizer status and support vaccine preparation and administration
  • Educate patients about vaccines and refer vaccination questions to the Pharmacist-on-duty
  • Monitor and respond to adverse reactions and report events
  • Review and collect patient information and document applicable patients
  • Monitor and manage vaccine supplies
  • Perform additional tasks as directed by the Supervisor or Manager

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Must comply with state board of pharmacy requirements and laws governing pharmacy practice, including age, education, and licensure/certification
  • If no state-mandated minimum age applies, must be at least 16 years of age
  • If no state-mandated minimum educational requirement applies, must have a high school diploma or equivalent, or be actively enrolled in high school or a high school equivalency program
  • Must satisfy applicable state registration, licensing, and certification requirements
  • Must complete required company training within the designated timeframe
  • Regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends
  • Ability to confirm prescription information and label accuracy
  • Ability to use verbal and written communication with patients and colleagues
  • Ability to use mathematics for prescription quantities and supplies
  • Must be mobile and remain upright for extended periods
  • Must lift, scan, bag, reach, stoop, type, and perform repetitive hand movements
  • Occasionally lift up to 20 lbs; frequently lift up to 10 lbs
  • Preferred: 1–3 years previous experience as a Pharmacy Technician
  • Preferred: Previous experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting
  • Ability to work in the home store and across the market at other locations
