About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Support the pharmacy team in delivering operational and service excellence within the store
- Serve as an initial point of contact for patients and customers
- Follow company SOPs and pharmacy workflow procedures across production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off workstations
- Fulfill prescriptions safely, promptly, and accurately
- Provide empathetic, personalized patient service and resolve or escalate patient problems
- Offer immunizations and other services at the register and over the phone where permitted
- Complete inventory activities including putting away medication deliveries, cycle counts, returns-to-stocks, and waiting-bin inventories
- Expand clinical and technical knowledge and respond to feedback
- Remain flexible for scheduling and business needs, including voluntarily traveling to market stores for shifts
- Comply with federal, state, and local laws, regulations, professional standards, ethical principles, and CVS policies
- Deliver additional services such as immunizations, point-of-care testing, and offsite clinics where legally permitted and properly trained
- For Technician Immunizer duties: complete additional licensure and training, educate patients about vaccines, monitor adverse reactions, document patient information, and manage vaccine supplies
- Perform other tasks as directed by a Supervisor or Manager
Requirements
What you’ll need- Must comply with applicable state board of pharmacy requirements and laws governing pharmacy practice, including age, education, and licensure/certification requirements
- If no state-mandated minimum age applies, must be at least 16 years of age
- If no state-mandated minimum educational requirement applies, must have a high school diploma or equivalent, or be actively enrolled in high school or a high school equivalency program
- Must complete required training within the designated timeframe
- Regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends
- Ability to confirm prescription information and label accuracy
- Ability to use math to determine tablet quantities, days’ supply, and bottle requirements
- Ability to perform required physical activities, including standing, lifting, reaching, repetitive finger movements, bending, and close visual work
- Ability to lift up to 20 lbs occasionally and up to 10 lbs frequently
- Preferred: 1–3 years of previous experience as a Pharmacy Technician
- Preferred: Previous experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting
- Ability to work in the home store and across the market in other locations as needed
- State-level licensure and national certification requirements vary by state
