About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Support the pharmacy team in delivering operational and service excellence within the store
  • Assist patients and customers as a first point of contact and provide exceptional service
  • Ensure prescriptions are filled promptly, safely, and accurately
  • Follow pharmacy standard operating procedures and workflow procedures across production, pickup, drive-thru, and drop-off workstations
  • Create personalized patient experiences and solve or escalate patient problems
  • Offer immunizations and other services at the register and over the phone
  • Complete inventory activities, including putting away medication deliveries, cycle counts, returns-to-stocks, and waiting-bin inventories
  • Expand clinical and technical knowledge and respond to feedback
  • Remain flexible for scheduling and business needs, including voluntarily traveling to market stores for shifts
  • Comply with federal, state, and local laws, regulations, professional standards, ethical principles, and CVS policies
  • Deliver additional health care services such as immunizations, point-of-care testing, and staffing offsite clinics where permitted and trained
  • Complete additional licensure and training to obtain Technician Immunizer status where permissible
  • Educate patients about vaccines and refer vaccination questions to the pharmacist-on-duty
  • Monitor and respond to adverse vaccine reactions and report events
  • Review, collect, track, and document patient information
  • Monitor and manage vaccine supplies
  • Perform additional tasks as directed by a supervisor or manager

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Must comply with applicable state board of pharmacy requirements and laws governing pharmacy practice, including age, education, and licensure/certification requirements
  • If no state-mandated minimum age applies, must be at least 16 years old
  • If no state-mandated minimum educational requirement applies, must have a high school diploma or equivalent, or be actively enrolled in high school or a high school equivalency program
  • Must satisfy applicable state-level licensure and national certification requirements
  • Ability to complete required training within the designated timeframe
  • Regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends
  • Ability to confirm prescription information and label accuracy
  • Verbal and written communication skills
  • Mathematical reasoning for prescription dispensing calculations
  • Ability to identify and resolve challenging patient or colleague interactions
  • Ability to remain mobile and upright for extended periods
  • Ability to lift up to 20 lbs occasionally and up to 10 lbs frequently
  • Ability to perform repetitive finger movements, reach, stoop, and maintain close visual acuity
  • 1–3 years previous experience as a Pharmacy Technician (preferred)
  • Previous experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting (preferred)
  • Ability to work in the home store and across the market in other locations as business needs require (preferred)
