About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Support the pharmacy team in delivering operational and service excellence
- Assist patients and customers as a first point of contact
- Ensure pharmacy operations run smoothly and prescriptions are filled promptly, safely, and accurately
- Follow company SOPs, pharmacy workflow procedures, and best practices
- Serve patients at pick-up, drive-thru, drop-off, register, and over the phone
- Offer immunizations and other services where permitted by law and training
- Solve or escalate patient problems
- Complete inventory activities, including medication deliveries, cycle counts, returns-to-stocks, and waiting-bin inventories
- Expand clinical and technical knowledge and respond to feedback
- Remain flexible for scheduling and business needs, including voluntarily traveling to market stores for shifts
- Comply with applicable laws, regulations, professional standards, ethical principles, and CVS policies
- Support additional services such as immunizations, point-of-care testing, and offsite clinics where allowed
- Where permissible, complete immunizer licensure and training, educate patients about vaccines, monitor adverse reactions, document patient information, and manage vaccine supplies
- Perform other tasks as directed by a Supervisor or Manager
Requirements
What you’ll need- Must comply with applicable state board of pharmacy requirements and laws governing pharmacy practice, including age, education, and licensure/certification requirements
- If no state-mandated minimum age applies, must be at least 16 years of age
- If no state-mandated minimum educational requirement applies, must have a high school diploma or equivalent, or be actively enrolled in high school or a high school equivalency program
- Must satisfy applicable state-level licensure and national certification requirements
- Ability to complete required training within the designated timeframe
- Regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends
- Ability to confirm prescription information and label accuracy
- Verbal and written communication skills
- Active listening skills
- Mathematical reasoning for prescription quantities and days’ supply
- Problem-resolution skills
- Ability to remain mobile and upright for extended periods
- Ability to lift up to 20 lbs occasionally and up to 10 lbs frequently
- Ability to perform repetitive hand and arm movements, reach, stoop, and maintain close visual acuity
- Preferred: 1–3 years of previous experience as a Pharmacy Technician
- Preferred: Previous experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting
- Ability to work in the home store and across the market at other locations as needed
