About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Support the pharmacy team in delivering operational and service excellence
  • Assist patients and customers as a first point of contact and provide an exceptional experience
  • Ensure prescriptions are filled promptly, safely, and accurately
  • Follow Standard Operating Procedures and pharmacy workflow procedures across production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off workstations
  • Serve patients at pick-up, drive-thru, and over the phone with empathy and genuine care
  • Offer immunizations and other services at the register and over the phone, where permitted
  • Solve or escalate patient problems
  • Complete basic inventory activities, including putting away medication deliveries, cycle counts, returns-to-stocks, and waiting-bin inventories
  • Communicate effectively and contribute to a safe, inclusive team culture
  • Remain flexible for scheduling and business needs, including voluntarily traveling to market stores for shifts
  • Comply with laws, regulations, professional standards, ethical principles, and CVS policies
  • Support additional health care services such as immunizations, point-of-care testing, and offsite clinics when permitted and properly trained
  • Obtain Technician Immunizer status when applicable
  • Educate patients about vaccines and refer vaccination questions to the Pharmacist-on-duty
  • Monitor and respond to adverse reactions and report events
  • Review and collect patient information and document applicable patients
  • Monitor and manage vaccine supplies
  • Perform additional tasks as directed by the Supervisor or Manager

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Must comply with applicable state board of pharmacy requirements and laws governing pharmacy practice, including age, education, and licensure/certification
  • If no state minimum age is mandated, must be at least 16 years of age
  • If no state minimum educational requirement is mandated, must have a high school diploma or equivalent, or be actively enrolled in high school or a high school equivalency program
  • Must satisfy applicable state registration, licensing, and certification requirements
  • Must complete required training within the designated timeframe
  • Regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends
  • Ability to confirm prescription information and label accuracy
  • Verbal and written communication skills
  • Active listening skills
  • Ability to use mathematics to determine quantities, days' supply, and bottles needed for prescriptions
  • Problem-resolution ability
  • Ability to remain mobile and upright for extended periods
  • Ability to lift, scan, and bag items; reach overhead; stoop; and perform repetitive finger and hand movements
  • Close visual acuity for transcription, computer-terminal viewing, and inspection of small parts
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 20 lbs and frequently lift up to 10 lbs
  • 1–3 years previous experience as a Pharmacy Technician (preferred)
  • Previous experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting (preferred)
  • Ability to work in the home store and across the market in other locations to meet business needs (preferred)
