About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Support the pharmacy team in delivering operational and service excellence within the store
- Serve as an initial point of contact for patients and customers
- Follow company SOPs and pharmacy workflow procedures across production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off workstations
- Fulfill prescriptions safely, promptly, and accurately
- Provide empathetic and personalized patient service in-store, at drive-thru, and by phone
- Offer immunizations and other services at the register and over the phone, where permitted
- Solve or escalate patient problems
- Complete inventory activities including medication deliveries, cycle counts, returns-to-stocks, and waiting-bin inventories
- Expand clinical and technical knowledge and respond to feedback
- Maintain flexible scheduling and voluntarily travel to market stores for shifts as needed
- Comply with applicable laws, regulations, professional standards, ethical principles, and CVS policies
- Support additional health care services such as immunizations, point-of-care testing, and offsite clinics when legally permitted and properly trained
- Complete additional licensure and training to obtain Technician Immunizer status where applicable
- Educate patients about vaccines and refer vaccination questions to the pharmacist
- Monitor and respond to adverse vaccine reactions and report events
- Review and collect patient information and document applicable patient records
- Monitor and manage vaccine supplies
- Perform additional tasks directed by a supervisor or manager
Requirements
What you’ll need- Must comply with applicable state board of pharmacy requirements or laws governing pharmacy practice, including age, education, and licensure/certification
- If no state-mandated minimum age applies, must be at least 16 years old
- If no state-mandated minimum educational requirement applies, must have a high school diploma or equivalent, or be actively enrolled in high school or a high school equivalency program
- Must complete required training within the designated timeframe
- Must have regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends
- Ability to confirm prescription information and label accuracy
- Ability to use mathematics to determine tablet quantities, days’ supply, and bottle quantities
- Ability to communicate verbally and in writing with patients and colleagues
- Ability to concentrate, shift quickly between tasks, and resolve problems
- Must meet applicable state-level licensure and national certification requirements
- Ability to remain upright and mobile for extended periods
- Ability to lift up to 20 lbs occasionally and up to 10 lbs frequently
- Ability to perform repetitive finger, reaching, lifting, scanning, bagging, stooping, and close-visual-acuity tasks
- 1–3 years of previous Pharmacy Technician experience preferred
- Previous experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting preferred
- Ability to work in the home store and across the market in other locations to meet business needs preferred
