About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Support the pharmacy team in delivering operational and service excellence within the store
- Serve as an initial point of contact for patients and customers
- Follow company SOPs and pharmacy workflow procedures across production, pickup, drive-thru, and drop-off workstations
- Support safe, prompt, and accurate prescription fulfillment
- Provide empathetic and compassionate patient service in person and over the phone
- Solve or escalate patient problems
- Complete inventory activities, including medication deliveries, cycle counts, returns-to-stocks, and waiting-bin inventories
- Communicate effectively with pharmacy team members and contribute to a safe, inclusive team culture
- Complete company training and applicable registration, licensing, and certification requirements
- Offer immunizations and other health services where permitted by law and supported by training and certification
- Prepare and administer vaccines where permitted, after obtaining Technician Immunizer status
- Educate patients about vaccines and refer vaccination questions to the pharmacist
- Monitor and respond to adverse vaccine reactions and report events
- Review and collect patient information and document applicable patient records
- Monitor and manage vaccine supplies
- Travel voluntarily to other stores in the market to work shifts as needed
- Perform additional tasks directed by a Supervisor or Manager
Requirements
What you’ll need- Must comply with applicable state board of pharmacy requirements or laws governing pharmacy practice, including age, education, and licensure/certification requirements
- If no state minimum age is mandated, must be at least 16 years of age
- If no state minimum educational requirement is mandated, must have a high school diploma or equivalent, or be actively enrolled in high school or a high school equivalency program
- Must satisfy applicable state-level licensure and national certification requirements
- Ability to complete required training within the designated timeframe
- Regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends
- Ability to confirm prescription information and label accuracy
- Ability to use math for prescription dispensing calculations
- Ability to communicate verbally and in writing with patients and colleagues
- Ability to complete customer service, problem resolution, and active listening tasks
- Ability to remain mobile and upright for extended periods
- Ability to lift, scan, and bag items; reach overhead; stoop; and perform repetitive finger and hand movements
- Close visual acuity for transcription, computer-terminal viewing, and inspection of small parts
- Occasionally lift up to 20 lbs; frequently lift up to 10 lbs
- 1–3 years previous experience as a Pharmacy Technician (preferred)
- Previous experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting (preferred)
- Ability to work in the home store and across the market in other locations to meet business needs (preferred)
