About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Support the pharmacy team in delivering operational and service excellence within the store
- Serve as an initial point of contact for patients and customers
- Follow company SOPs and pharmacy workflow procedures across production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off workstations
- Ensure prescriptions are filled promptly, safely, and accurately
- Provide caring, empathetic, and personalized patient service in person and over the phone
- Offer immunizations and other services at the register and over the phone
- Solve or escalate patient problems
- Complete inventory activities, including medication deliveries, cycle counts, returns-to-stocks, and waiting bin inventories
- Follow federal, state, and local laws, regulations, professional standards, ethical principles, and CVS policies
- Deliver additional health care services such as immunizations and point-of-care testing where permitted and trained
- Complete additional licensure and training to obtain Technician Immunizer status where applicable
- Educate patients about vaccines and refer vaccination questions to the Pharmacist-on-duty
- Monitor and respond to adverse reactions and report events
- Review and document patient information
- Monitor and manage vaccine supplies
- Travel voluntarily to other stores in the market to work shifts as needed
- Perform additional tasks directed by the Supervisor or Manager
Requirements
What you’ll need- Must comply with applicable state board of pharmacy requirements or laws, including age, education, and licensure/certification requirements
- If no state minimum age is mandated, must be at least 16 years of age
- If no state minimum educational requirement is mandated, must have a high school diploma or equivalent, or be actively enrolled in high school or a high school equivalency program
- Must satisfy applicable state registration, licensing, and national certification requirements
- Ability to complete required training within the designated timeframe
- Regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends
- Ability to confirm prescription information and label accuracy
- Verbal and written communication skills
- Mathematical reasoning for prescription fulfillment calculations
- Ability to identify and resolve challenging patient or colleague interactions
- Ability to remain mobile and upright for extended periods
- Ability to lift up to 20 lbs occasionally and up to 10 lbs frequently
- Ability to perform repetitive finger, reaching, stooping, visual acuity, and precision-control tasks
- Preferred: 1–3 years of previous experience as a Pharmacy Technician
- Preferred: Previous experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting
- Ability to work in the home store and across the market at other locations
