About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Support the pharmacy team in delivering operational and service excellence within the store
  • Assist patients and customers and provide an exceptional experience
  • Ensure prescriptions are filled promptly, safely, and accurately
  • Follow company SOPs and pharmacy workflow procedures at production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off workstations
  • Serve patients with empathy and genuine care at pick-up, drive-thru, and over the phone
  • Offer immunizations and other services at the register and over the phone, where permitted
  • Solve or escalate patient problems
  • Complete inventory activities such as putting away medication deliveries, cycle counts, returns-to-stocks, and waiting-bin inventories
  • Contribute to a high-performing, safe, inclusive, and engaging team
  • Expand clinical and technical knowledge and respond to feedback
  • Remain flexible for scheduling and business needs, including voluntarily traveling to nearby stores for shifts
  • Comply with pharmacy laws, regulations, professional standards, ethical principles, and CVS policies
  • Deliver additional health care services such as immunizations, point-of-care testing, and staffing offsite clinics when allowed and properly trained
  • Where permissible, support immunizations by obtaining Technician Immunizer status, educating patients, monitoring adverse reactions, documenting patient information, and managing vaccine supplies
  • Perform additional tasks directed by the Supervisor or Manager

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Must comply with applicable state Board of Pharmacy requirements or laws governing pharmacy practice, including age, education, and licensure/certification
  • If no state minimum age is mandated, must be at least 16 years old
  • If no state minimum educational requirement is mandated, must have a high school diploma or equivalent, or be actively enrolled in high school or a high school equivalency program
  • Must satisfy applicable state-level licensure and national certification requirements
  • Ability to complete required training within the designated timeframe
  • Regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends
  • Ability to confirm prescription information and label accuracy
  • Ability to use math to determine tablet quantities, days’ supply, and bottle requirements
  • Ability to work in the home store and across the market in other locations as needed
  • 1–3 years of previous Pharmacy Technician experience preferred
  • Previous experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting preferred
  • Ability to concentrate, shift between tasks, and meet patient and business needs
  • Verbal and written communication skills and active listening
  • Ability to perform required physical activities, including standing, lifting, scanning, bagging, reaching, repetitive finger movements, bending, and close visual work
  • Occasionally lift up to 20 lbs; frequently lift up to 10 lbs
  • Must understand and comply with applicable federal, state, and local laws, regulations, professional standards, ethical principles, and CVS policies
