About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Provide legal guidance, interpretation, advice and recommendations to internal stakeholders and senior/executive management regarding federal and state healthcare regulations
Serve as a subject matter expert on newly enacted legal requirements
Provide advanced legal advice and counsel to promote company mandates and protect company interests
Prepare communications with state regulators, examiners, and/or consultants within expected deadlines and short timelines
Research and analyze state laws and regulations
Perform legal review and assessment of adverse state market conduct exam findings and consent orders
Identify and review legal risk for business areas and subject matter experts to assess market conduct impact and corrective action plans
Provide legal expertise on company-wide initiatives requiring legal research and advice across the CVS Health enterprise
Collaborate cross-functionally with the law department, Compliance, Government Affairs, Regulatory Affairs, and business operations teams to implement new laws and regulations
Assist with onboarding junior-level staff to develop departmental capabilities

Requirements

What you’ll need

8+ years of legal attorney experience in a law firm and/or in-house setting
Mastery of problem solving and decision making skills
Mastery of collaboration and teamwork
Mastery of growth mindset skills, including agility and developing yourself and others
Mastery of execution and delivery skills, including planning, delivering, and supporting
Mastery of business intelligence
JD required
Bachelor's Degree required
Preferred: In depth knowledge of healthcare laws, regulations and industry standards governing health plans and healthcare, including Affordable Care Act, Medicare, Medicaid, ERISA, state any willing provider and other state provider network issues
Preferred: Experience working with state and federal government agencies, healthcare laws and regulations
Preferred: Experience working with PBMs and/or the pharmacy division of a health plan and/or with health plans
