About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Define and execute the observability platform strategy, roadmap, and operating model
Lead and develop engineering teams responsible for observability, reliability, and platform services
Drive enterprise adoption of OpenTelemetry, monitoring, logging, tracing, and alerting standards
Partner with Engineering, Cloud, Infrastructure, Security, and Product teams to improve platform reliability and operational visibility
Lead modernization initiatives focused on automation, self-service capabilities, cloud transformation, and AI-driven operations
Define and track KPIs, platform health metrics, and engineering effectiveness measures
Manage platform investments, vendor relationships, and capacity planning

Requirements

What you’ll need

7+ years of software engineering experience
4+ years building observability platforms, developer platforms, or other internal engineering infrastructure
3+ years directly managing engineering teams, including hiring and performance management
3+ years operating a product or platform in production at scale, including multi-cloud or multi-cluster environments
Experience with at least one major cloud provider: AWS, GCP, or Azure
3+ years of hands-on experience with monitoring, logging, distributed tracing, and OpenTelemetry
Experience defining and managing SLIs, SLOs, and reliability programs
Experience leading teams in Agile or Scrum environments
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
High school diploma plus 4 years relevant work experience accepted as an alternative
Preferred: 3+ years with Grafana, Prometheus, Datadog, Splunk, Dynatrace, or New Relic
Preferred: Infrastructure as Code, GitOps, and modern CI/CD practices
Preferred: cloud modernization and operational transformation experience
Preferred: AIOps, AI-powered observability, and intelligent automation knowledge
Preferred: experience in highly regulated industries such as healthcare, financial services, or insurance
