About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Provide guidance and mentorship to cross-functional engineering teams
Establish performance objectives aligned with organizational goals
Develop strategies for software development projects, including requirements, design and solutions, timelines, and deliverables
Oversee risk assessment processes and resolve delivery or production issues
Evaluate resource availability and implement solutions to minimize operational disruptions
Conduct performance evaluations and foster professional growth
Manage a subdomain of 2–3 scrum teams supporting monthly deployments
Track iterations, increments, delivery dates, and software quality
Collaborate with product managers and business stakeholders to align priorities and resolve conflicts
Investigate emerging software technologies, methodologies, and industry developments
Lead scrum team members using JIRA and other tools
Provide technical direction and support resolution of complex challenges
Lead transformation and modernization roadmaps for the Plan Sponsor domain
Drive AI-enabled transformations, execution strategies, adoption, and technical best practices
Manage risks and cross-workstream technical dependencies
Develop end-to-end program plans and track and report progress
Manage program-level status reporting and stakeholder communications

Requirements

What you’ll need

7+ years of overall IT experience within a matrixed environment
5+ years of experience managing technology including Mainframe, Java and Springboot
3+ years of experience leading projects and managing direct reports
3+ years of expertise in enterprise application architecture, API development, and microservices
Experience addressing vulnerabilities and working with Delivery and/or Product teams to remediate
2+ years of Cloud Platform experience with Azure OpenShift, OpenShift IBM WebSphere, Google Cloud Platform (GCP), and Amazon Web Services (AWS)
2+ years of experience using Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology, preferably with GitHub Copilot or Claude AI
Deep understanding of DevSecOps principles and CI/CD pipelines
Experience addressing Qualys and Snyk vulnerabilities
Experience managing Plan Sponsor data with a large health insurer
Experience designing and building automation capability
Experience with Agile SAFe methodology and software delivery
Experience with Clarity suite of tools
Experience with Colleague Zone and Workday
JIRA experience and administrative responsibilities
Certified developer or architect certification preferred but not required
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience (High School Diploma and 4 years relevant experience)
