About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead the design, development, and implementation of innovative digital solutions for member experiences
  • Architect and build cloud-native, microservices-based applications
  • Apply event-driven architecture, modern technology stacks, and emerging AI technologies
  • Collaborate with Digital, Data and Analytics, and Platform Engineering teams
  • Contribute to technical direction and shape digital engineering initiatives
  • Mentor peers and partner with architects and product teams
  • Translate business requirements into scalable, maintainable solutions
  • Own the full software lifecycle from design through deployment and operations

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 5+ years of software engineering experience, with a focus on enterprise-level digital solutions
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience with Node.js, JavaScript, and TypeScript, including asynchronous programming and server-side application development
  • 2+ years of experience building and deploying cloud-based solutions, with preference for AWS
  • Experience designing, developing, and deploying microservices-based applications
  • Proficiency in unit testing, integration testing, and code review practices
  • Experience with PostgreSQL, Redis, OpenSearch, and MongoDB, including data modeling and query optimization
  • Experience with event-driven services and architectures, including Apache Kafka
  • Experience building RESTful APIs, including middleware implementation and routing with Express
  • Proficient understanding of SQL and NoSQL database technologies, including cloud-native database services
  • Familiarity with emerging AI technologies and practical software-development applications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience (high school diploma plus 4 years of relevant work experience)
  • Preferred: Experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP; serverless architectures; open-source frameworks; modern development tooling; Agile methodologies; cross-functional teamwork; problem-solving; communication skills
